The Art of Double Cleansing

As you end your day at home, do you ever feel like cleansing once just isn’t cutting through the day’s build-up? Well, you’re not alone. To get the day’s pollution and makeup completely off your face, you may want to start double cleansing.

Double cleansing is a powerful yet gentle technique that can leave your skin feeling clean, refreshed, and ready for the next product you want to layer on your face. Want to learn more about double cleansing? Then, you’re in the right page.

What is Double Cleansing?

For people who love skincare and makeup, they know how important it is to prep the skin before applying any products. Double cleansing allows you to strip away the dirt, debris, and makeup from your skin while also leaving your skin refreshed. This technique is essential for leaving your skin as a blank canvas that’s ready for you to layer on more products as you prep your skin for the next day.

I guess it’s safe to say that double cleansing should be something you’re doing if you want to achieve smooth, clean, and clear skin.

When Should You Double Cleanse?

As we’ve mentioned, double cleansing is an important technique that can help you clear out your skin from dirt, dust, and oil that has accumulated throughout the day. This is why I recommend that you double cleanse at night - every night.

The reason why I recommend that you double cleanse at night is because, in the morning, there’s not much accumulation on your skin yet. It can be counterintuitive to double cleanse in the morning when you haven’t really done much yet.

How Do You Double Cleanse?

In this section, we tell you all about how to double cleanse and we even give you some of our tips and tricks to help you maximize this technique.

The First Cleanse

During your first cleanse, I recommend that you use an oil-based cleanser, balm, or micellar water. This is because oil attracts oil, meaning it can easily attract the excess sebum that’s built up on your skin during the day. Oil-based cleansers can also gently dissolve makeup and sunscreen.

I also recommend that you find a gentle first cleanser, like our Peptide Sensi Cleanser for this job. This way, you can cleanse your skin without taking away too much moisture from it.

The Second Cleanse

During the second cleanse, you can follow your cleanser with a water-based product that’s made just for your skin type. This will help remove any impurities, sweat, and dead skin cells while still leaving your skin refreshed.

For example, if you have dry skin, we recommend going with a cleanser that addresses this - like Spalina’s AlphaVitality Cleanse.

Double Cleanse Away

Throughout this article, we’ve told you all about double cleansing. Double cleansing is an excellent skincare practice that can help you keep your skin healthy for the days ahead. It can even enhance the effectiveness of other skincare products that you use.
